People as Places as People

In a wild place, I saw a tombstone.
In a calm place, I saw a child grow.

In a gloomy place, I saw a party go.
In a happy place, I saw tears show.

In a sacred place, I heard blasphemy.
In a unholy place, I heard God speak.

In my quiet place, I felt the earth shake.
To my surprise, no one else did.

In their quiet place, I wished the earth'd shake.
To my chagrin, no change came.
To my chagrin, contradictions remain.

In my own place, I saw a tombstone.
In my own place, I saw a child grow.
